  1. Dan the Bruce is alarmed and requests that you call him ASAP for debriefing.

As your friend, I recommend you commit the following to memory beforehand: "Braveheart is historically inaccurate. It made me very angry. History is learned from books, not movies. I am very angry. The Hollywood morons cast aspersions on Robert the Bruce's nobility in exchange for ticket sales, and they should all be drawn and quartered. Did I mention I am angry? King Robert ('Uncle Bob') was valiant and just. The Comyns were vile, slobbering murderers. Uncle Bob never, ever betrayed William Wallace in any way."

    That last line is key.

Be forewarned that many young men have botched this obligatory debriefing, whereafter they were denied access to the kilt and the bagpipes and deemed forever unworthy of the haggis. Nevertheless be brave; I wish you all the best.

  2. I seem to remember Bruce killing a fellow named Comyn and thereafter, there was no turning back for him. It seemed Bruce did take a while before he finally committed to fight the English, but it was irritating to see the movie portray him as betraying Wallace at Falkirk.
